In 1776, the country is in turmoil as the Revolutionary war begins. Twelve-year-old Maggie Diele and her family embark on a trek through the Appalachian Mountains to the Cumberland Gap. There, her family and others like them will follow Daniel Boone through the gap to the dangerous settlement of Boonesborough, Kentucke.
After living an idyllic life in Culpepper, Virginia, Maggie experiences a life altering change. Exciting at first, the new frontier settlement proves dangerous when Maggie is taken by a savage and forced to march for weeks to reach the Indian’s village. Will she ever see her family again?
